Can anybody tell me anything about Manois Escrima. I have read the website, but have no idea what the system entails. Can anybody out there help me out. What are the systems strong points? Thank you in advance.

GM Manaois is a well known and respected eskrimador among the Los Angeles community.
He's well into his 60's but looks like he's still got the same physique he had in his 20's.
The Manaois System was taught to him by his father. Ninoy Manaois. An eskrimador whou fought in death matches. His father invented what we like to call the "popeye" strike during a death match.
Ninoy Manaois hit his opponent in the back of the head, resulting in the guy's eyeball popping out of the socket. Hence the name
"popeye" strike.
As far as the Manaois System is concerned, it is both blade and stick. The techniques are all practical and effective for combat. When I fought at DB gathering, I used the Manaois System. I walked away without a scratch, but the other guy would have been hacked to bits and pieces had we used live blades.
The Manaois system also has a brutal empty hand way of fighting that incorporates striking, neck breaks, eye gouges and Dumog. (filipino ground fighting) It's real brutal.
GM Manaois is deserves so much recognition. The only problem I have with him is that he is too humble. He deserves to be in those books, but because he is so humble, he doesn't bother to promote himself the way many other guys do.
GM Manaois is awesome. If you wanna learn some good shit go see him. His system has been broken down into a learning progression that flows like water whether you are a beginner, or an expert.
He has produced many fine warriors including Ariel F Mosses, an instructor who now resides in Las Vegas. This guy is awesome too, and I would never wanna **** with him.
As far as competitions are concerned, there have been tournaments when Manaois students won all their divisions. This includes single stick, double stick, and knife fighting.
So, if you wanna do tournaments, Manaois System has what you need. Or if you wanna just be a guy on the street who knows how to **** people up with sheer brutality the system offers that stuff as well.
