Instructors in Philippines?

Most of the schools already listed are very good.....

But there is one I would not advise because it is very commercial.

One of my friend went there, had to pay heavy membership because he is a foreigner, and after a few lessons was disapointed by the general level, he quit to join another of the cited above....

thanx everyone for their recommendations and suggestions. it's been such a great help.

i've switched my training from mano-mano arnis to Balintawak Arnis with Bob Silver. it's been such an improvement. i don't feel like i'm learning exhibition moves and "dances" anymore.

i'll keep in mind the other instructors everyone has suggested.

How's your training with GM Bob Silver coming along? I believe you're taking private classes. Can't do any better than that, but if you have the time, I would recommend you watch one of his classes, so you get to see his other students. It'll give you a broader view of how you will move someday. Train hard.

training is GM Bob Silver is great... he gets along so well with my father who has great respect for him (always a good sign).

yes, i'm taking private classes with him. i feel like i learn better that way.

Silver's lessons tend to go longer than the "hour" he said... sometimes they go up to 2 hours. he also says he sees great potential in me. yay!

perhaps i'll go check out one of his classes soon.

Taga-LSAI ka ba or nagmamarunong lang? Just an FYI Mr. LEO whoever you are: LSAI, PTK and KDL have already started to reach out and have this consensus of promoting the FMA as FMA, and not just under a specific shool or whatsoever. You have any problems with that?

Kung taga-LSAI ka, shame on you. Guro Jon Escudero has a nice relationship with the other FMA Guros and here you are promoting otherwise...

Normally tahimik na lang ako pero pre bastos ka eh! Plus I knwo some Leskas guys and you are dirtying their name.AnY other FMA system is non sense? And the center of learning your system is what?..UP diliman ? SO I guess the Force Recon special Forces of the Marines are leanring nonsense FMA? The very ones who have to have been in actual combat (not just sparring in class), the very ones who have that thousANd yard stare (from seeing battle and having killed and not just sparring in class with protective gear) or that another system , Not LESKAS is being taught and sought after by the US Military in every Balikatan because they have PROVEN themselves as a realistic fighting art, Or that Majority of the Law Enforcement here in the US uses another system (not Leskas ) as training for LAw Enforcement . All these other systems are nonesense? pakilala kaya kita sa mga sundalo kung talagang may alam ka. Kaya mo ba iback up yung statement Mo? Sumipot ka nasa FT Bonifacio lang naman sila, Now from reading my post don't I sound arrogant and much as an asshole ? No different than you have. Fact is that you can hide behind a computer and make such claims that you can't back up. Worse, dinadamay mo ang Systema and the very respectable memory of GrandMaster "MAng Ben" Lema. Does your instructor know you are even doing this? We here in the FMA have formed a brotherhood to uplift the standards of the FMA by sharing. Pareng Leo, I hindi mo sinabi yon. I like your art LSAI but to say that the other fma styles are nonsense. Mali ka dun. I know one person in UPDilliman. Sonny Mejia very humble and great person. I had the honor and opportunity to study with him for a very short time. I feel you need to mature more in the arts. This is just constructive criticism. I am mainly a Modern Arnis-Kombatan practitioner with studies of Kalis Ilustrisimo with GM .Antonio Ilustrisimo and Kalaki arkanis w/ Master Inocencio Glaraga. I've done my research. And I have a lot of respect for all filipino martial arts. Your atitude of kasa mo will get you no where. YOu can see I'm not taking this lightly. I hope you learn from others atitudewise.At tandaan mo wala sa istilo yan nasa tao. Magaling nga ang istilo mo mabaho naman ang ugali mo. Wala kang magiging kaibigan niyan. Kaya di magkasundo ang mga grandmasters ng arnis kali escrima. Dahil sa mga ugaling ganyan. Isipin mo munang sasabihin mo bago ka magsalita. WAg kang bastos. Nasisira ang pangalan ng LSAI na pinagkakaingat-ingatan ni mang Ben. Sana isipin mo yon.
