    g'day guys,

    can anyone tell me what a guro is exactly? i've given up hope of finding out by myself

    "guro" literally means "teacher" in Tagalog. I'm not sure though if it means the same thing in the other Philippine dialects..

        Well, as I understand it, "guru" comes from two old sanskrit words. One means "darkness", the other means "light." The implication is that a "guru" is one who leads others from darkness into light. This can be applied to anything from martial arts, linguistics, math, spiritualism, etc. But, basically, it means "teacher."

        I assume (though could be wrong) that "guro" comes from the same root but is just a different pronunciation (and, by extension, has become spelled differently over the years).
