  • Instructors in NYC?

mm.. i hope no one thinks ill of me for asking since i'm once again looking for an instructor.

apparently, i'm moving back to NYC august 20th. this saddens me because i fear for finding a good instructor.

does anyone know of any good instructors in the NYC area? it would be nice if i could continue my balintawak training. but, if no one knows of that type, i'll go for any instruction in combat martial arts.

I would recomend you contact Mandala AK Boouraca of the New York Pekiti-Tirsia Pitbulls.

      balintawak in NYC

I met a Balintawak instructor in NYC last year. Filipino who trained in the islands and moved to the states some years ago. I'll look into it and post his contact info if I can find it.

          Balintawak -NYC

          Found the name:
Zack Tako... who trained in Balintawak in the Philippines and moved to NYC. Met him a year ago. Don't know if he is still in the city.

            Hello, Rafael:

Would you happen to know who his instructor was?

Also, to Sweet Facade, thanks for coming over to the class. The guys were particularly impressed with your boxing. Have a good flight.

When you get to NY, you might want to check out the Atienza Kali guys if you can't get Balintawak. From what I've seen, they're ok. Their website is www.atienzakali.com

i was wondering, do you know where i could get some sports wrap? i would like to stop using the pads.

                NYC

I believe Zack said it was Teofilo Velez.

And yes, definitely the Atienzas if you want to train out of Balintawak in the NYC or NJ area - you could probably get in contact with them right away if you venture to their website. Excellent with stick and blade work.

                  Sweet Facade:

You should be able to find the wraps at any decent sport shop that sells stuff for boxing. I've seen them (Everlast) at Toby's, Squadron Shoppe, and at Crossings at EDSA Shang. Not sure how much they cost now though.

                  Thanks for the reply, Rafael.
