you would probably win anyway being a bodybuilder

Being a body builder doesn't mean anything except you have big muscles.

Someone go take a look at ronnie coleman, http://www.bigroncoleman.com an reevaluate your ideas about size being pointless without skill. Off season he's about 5'11" 315 lbs, competition ready with virtually no bodyfat at all, he' still 285 lbs. If you hit him anywhere but the crotch, solarplexus, and throat, you are not going to hurt him. His intercostals and anterior serratus, and pecs are so big, that they probably cover his solarplexus anyway. YOu probably couldn't hurt him too easily there either. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fight a silverback gorilla? Well, meet up with someone ronnies size and you'll get a good idea what it would be like. Muscles matter...little muscles matter a little, and big muscles matter a lot. They aren't going to make you invincible or the toughest guy in the world, but they sure as hell will help you in a fight. I take it that most of you with this opinion do not lift much weight...well I can guarantee one thing, it hurts a lot less to get hit, and you hit a lot harder when you've got muscles. It also helps DRAMATICALLY when placed in a multiple attackers situation because it is much harder for your attackers to overpower you.

No, I told you your only possibility of hurting him. Good luck hitting all the vitals effectively before you get wrapped up and worked. Plus, a testicle most likely will not take someone down, it might hurt 'em (like previously mentioned). If I was pissed, it wouldn't stop me. And let's get real now, how many people do you know that stand around with their nuts, solarplexus, and throat just waiting to get attacked by combos?

Get kicked in the nuts when someone's trying to kick your ass, it'll make a difference It will, however, most likely 99.99999% chance hurt someone, just not stop them. Now, if you hit someone in the balls repeatedly, they might just pass out *keep in mind that IF*

Its all about the combination of your attributes, and how they work together to fight the patricular opponent.

I'm sure that there are many people out there who could kick big Ron's behind. But they will be near the top of their game, and will also have outstanding attributes to counter his (maybe size and strength, but maybe incredible submission technique etc.)

But just because some people can beat him, that doesn't mean it will be easy. I'm damn sure I couldn't, and I rather think of myself as a hard bastard (a modest one........).

Muscles may not be the only thing that count. Of course not. But muscles DO matter.

I agree 100%. But I have to say that heavyweight BBs, they can barely walk or scratch thier backs and are typically not that flexable (of course they don't need to be). In multiple attack the best defense would be fear of the size, but damn they couldn't run far Anyway, I do agree stregth training is important

Modest Indeed I couldn't be happier that IPON (the bouncer) and Thai Bri (the cop), who obviously have some experience in applying MA's and in their effectiveness, agree that size does matter.

Huey...ouch! That's an awful story. LOL. Death via testicular trauma.

My uncle got kicked in the nuts really hard once and he said he had to go to the doctors to have it pushed back down out of wherever it was hiding No joke. He didn't get too detailed, but I'm assuming it was horrific as well.

Choy LOL we try to be humble with our brillance

I think the only issue with strength training is not to loose flexability.

"Muscles matter...little muscles matter a little, and big muscles matter a lot." that sums it up!!

Everything matters be it speed power or technique, if you do not have much of the one you better compensate with the others

I've seen smaller people throw rather heavy people
Then again we have seen Tank defeat more technical people

it is the sum of it all, the peron that is a fast and powerfull technichian has the best cards

oh I forget one thing tactics can have a big invluence too

It must be said though, Speed can be trained but the gain isn't
as much as with power, or technique

Spending too much time on getting faster is a waste of your time

But never should training one element result in another element getting worse
So you shouldn't become slower because of weighttraining
( Don F Dreager was a master at making training programs for that he turn Jon Bluming from a middleweight to a heavyweightjudoka without sacrificing any speed)

                            You're definately right

My point was not to emphasize strength training, but to discredit those who are under the incredibly false impression that "Being a body builder doesn't mean anything except you have big muscles."

IPON-- you da man! yeah, keeping limber is harder with larger muscles, especially if you train for a long time before you start stretching. However, it's very possible.
