  • Starting Martial Arts...

Well I have decided to start a Martial Art but I cannot decide what to do, I sort of live in a small town with not much to offer. I believe there is a Judo, Karate and I think Jujitsu.

There could be others but im not sure. Anyway I am only 14 years old and I did 2 months of TKD when i was 11 but it seemed to go no where and I relized I hadn't learnt a thing, only kata which seemed pretty pointless to me and it only seemed to relax and clear my mind which seems like a warm up nothing that could actually be used in a fight.

If you find it hard to just tell me which one to do could someone right the positives and negatives so it makes it easier to choose. Oh and one last thing would these be actually useful in a fight with someone else if so how long would it take to use them in a fight. I don't really care for getting belts quickly just as long as I know how to defend myself

There are many different types of Jujitsu, and many different types of Karate. However, All three of them are good as long as you are attending a good school with good instructors. The only way that You are going to know for sure is to go to the dojos in your area, speak with the instructors, and attend a couple classes. A lot of places will allow you to attend a couple sessions for free. You have to be confortable with the person that is teaching you, with his attitude, and the material he is teaching. It can be night and day from one dojo to the next, so you'll really have to go check them out.
