  • Need some advice

Well hello. I need some advice.. see Im in shotokan karate[CSKA]. I have been in it now for some months and train very hard. Though i have missed roughly the last 3 weeks of training only to find sensei asking me if im going to compete in the up-coming tournament. Of course I wouldnt miss it lol. I'm a white belt, though the place i train at is very strickt. the world or international[cant remember] campion has come out of that club for like the last 5/10[ cant remember] years. So Im allways training with stuff higher than my level.. [ white belt ] My only question is, should i train like crazy til the tournament, go normal relaxed. or chill fully.
Any advice would be helpful, i dont want to let sensei down

I had a problem with something not concerning MA but I was going in a comp for something, try training harder but make sure you dont waste yourself so you dont have time to keep ur diet and sleeping good.

I've been in around ten open circuit tournaments. First of all, relax, they aren't as hard as they seem.

Second of all, since you are going in at a white belt level, you should work on combinations of striking and kicking. Most white belts haven't even begun to work on combinations yet and they will still throw a front or round kick every time.

Lastly, work on speed and defense. If you have a training partner at home, try working on nothing but blocking and countering over and over again. Make sure that you don't rely on the counter punches though, you want to be able to strike first and hit.

      Good luck.
