Konigun Nunjutsu Training Manual, November 12, 2003

I spent years training out of this manual. Before it was published. It has made a huge difference in my life. And is the best I've ever read.

I have received both an older and a newer version of this title and have been extremely impressed with the second edition. I agree the first volume could have used more illustrations, but the second revision has just that. MUCH MUCH more illustrations. The book goes in depth on the many techniques performed in this very interesting style and yes it is ment to be a guide-line or reference for students, but the step by step directions make is a little easier for the beginner to understand. It is not intended to be an instructional tool, only a supplement to your training. This volume goes through 4th degree black belt and includes everything from acrobatics to weapons training.
I have attended many classes and camps with the Ninjutsu Meiyo-Kai under Shidoshi Bryce Dallas and he is a very intelligent man with great knowledge of the martial arts and great skill to acompany it. There are many Black Belts with his style, located in different states in the North American area; all of which possess good skills and personable character. Throughout my training with Konigun Ninjutsu I have always felt at home and treated fairly. I trained with Shidoshi Dallas in Clinton and Byram MS and I never recall him just teaching close friends or relatives. He rarely hung out with but a few of his black belts but yes we did train outside from time to time. In his history he has been known to open schools and then close them a few months later to determine who the serious students were so he would know who to devote time to. Im sorry the person who left a review did not stick around long enough find this out.
I love the book, especially the revised edition and I hope you will give it a try.

Better than average, but more average than good, September 27, 2002

Shidoshi Bryce Dallas undoubtedly has a lot of experience, which he transmits in this book. The text by itself, no doubt, is excellent, but the illustrations/pictures are simply lacking. There is no breakdown of techniques except in the first few pages. You must have previous experience of Ninjutsu to use this book, which is intented solely for the purpose of reference (which the author states in the first few pages). Do not buy this book unless you are very familiar with martial arts terminology, for even if there is a glossary in the end of the book, it refers mainly to things that aren't even in the book. Overall, I think that this book could have been made excellent if it had more illustrations, and if it an effort had been made to translate more japanese words.
