  • TKD weaker than Kyokushin?

I practice TKD. I have no doubt that it is an effective martial when used properly, just like any other martial art.

Would a TKD practicioner lose to a kyokushin practicioner, assuming they are of same experience and level?

first of all, I disagree that TKD is an effective martial art except it can build up your flexibility.

Second of all, Kyokushin karate is very focus on lower round house kick, which TKD guys don't know how to defence it.

Third, Kyokushin karate guys don't wear any sparring gear when sparring while TKD always wear a gear, so Kyo guys should be tougher.

I couldn't disagree more, TKD IS effective just like basically any other MA out there, you obviously know very little about it to make a generalistic comment like that, what is see on TV is not what you get. Please read up or experience TKD before you make a comment like that.

tkd person you obviously do not have full faith in your art and you doubt it, thats why these types of posts keep comming up, look on the korean forum.

hmmm, as a TKD instructor defending legs is simple. Shield with the leg and let them limp home. Or move.

It will always depend on the person, the circumstances and the day.

Not all TKD is created equal. Not all students are created equal. The most prepared fighter will have the advantage.

MT&BJJNoob, you must be one of those anti-TKD bashers for absolutely no other reason than the fact that others do it. "Hey, let's all jump on the bandwagon'!

Besides, i didn't ask if it was effective or not. I asked if it was one the weakest art. There's a difference.

            TaeKwanDo

Yeah have a look into it more. I believe that taekwando has only been around by that name since the 1960, this is when the eyes of the world were on korea etc. The development of TKD is like that of karate, there are many different branches. Tan Sou Do and Kong Sudo, among many other were involved in creating tkd. Just like Muiy Thai has competetion rules, that stop you from using technique that may kill, it does not mean the techniques arnt there. I like to think of the person, not the art. How much the person wants to live, if he doesnot put his life on the line he will not win, he will never commit, but if he values his life you shall never take it, because he is commited and knows to well the concequences. Fighting is ego!!!, and I dont mean that TKD is only 40y old, but just in name it is. respects. J

              excessive force

I totally agree with you on that one. I hate it when people say this is weaker than that, .....Fighting is simple and unattached. Your tools do not have to shape a pretty stone, or create a flowery pattern, they only have to strike a target and break its ego. fightings more like hitting a nail into a peice of wood rather than shaping a mosaic pattern. There is art in movement becasue it is expression of the soul and has no outcome, just like abstract thought.. But there is no art in conflict, because it can have only definative route to follow. Start end. Linear.
