Might be a good idea. Guro Dan is calling it "Jeet Kuen" now. Stupid politics.

Politics aside, and I like inosanto, but JKD on a whole is garbage as it is generally taught (no disrespect aseepish) but that is my experience. And in JJJ you do learn these transitions the problem is finding a competent dojo. Also, TSD is not so incomplete as many may think elbow and knee strikes are taught, so is extensive weapons training and there are practical weapons as well like dan bong.

The argument that everything has to be 100% live to be effective is silly. I am not saying it is wrong but the reality is in stand up arts someone will get seriously injured and head injuries are no joke. Now you can cover up but the reaility is by the time you cover up enough to sparr full power the other person will look like a heavy bag

Sean - I PM'd you, My vote would be for judo and some boxing. The reality is that it is not that difficult to transition these styles you just need your homework ... how do Bruce Lee learn the same way anyone esle does. You do need to know what its like to be hit, if not you can be easily taken off your game if you got in a fight. But I agree I hate being hit in the face....and hey its not a bad thing to be whipped

Thanks IPON. I have emailed the Judo instructor, so hopefully i will start next week and if i enjoy it then i will continue.

unfortunatly boxing is unavalable in my location, though it is something i feel i would benefit from. As for sparring, i think i am gonna just buy some equipment, (gloves, headguards, tkd bodypads,) and just invite ppl i know with any fight exp to come and have a go, and see how that goes.

Damn, just when i thought i had decided....

i got an email back from Kempo jujitsu and it sounds pretty cool.

            Hi sean

            Thank you for the email.
The classes that I teach last 1 hour 30 minutes. they tend to go on a little longer, because we are the last in the hall at the Gosling. The lessons do vary, but most lessons will have sparring, ground fighting/grappling. The drills are an important to the art of Kempo, the striking range around 4-8 strikes a second. We do only use three forms. There are other drills for single and double stick and knife. In two of my classes for the week you would certainly cover most if not all categories and more
i think i will have to try both and see which i prefer.
