i don't know what's making me most angry , the fact that you all never heard of Budo Taijutsu or the fact that you using the wrong words.

first of all the Ninjutsu like you've seen in movies doesn't exist anymore ! (trivia for you guys, the ninja was almost never dressed in black).

there only (as for as i know) 3 "Ninja" schools left being:
      - Togakure Ryu Ninpo
      - Kumogakure Ryu Ninpo
      - Gyokushin Ryu Ninpo
those together with the samurai ryu's of
      - kukishinden ryu
      - Gikan ryu koppojutsu
      - Koto ryu koppojutsu
      - shinden fudo ryu dakentaijutsu
      - Takagi Yoshin ryu jutaijutsu
      - Gyokko ryu Kosshijutsu

these schools together forms the base of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu in the past known as ninjutsu. There are also the other xkans that practice ninjutsu, like
      genbukan, jinenkan.

just try to type BUJINKAN or GENBUKAN or JINENKAN in google , and there will be a whole new world that opens.
i have nothing against other styles , being myself practioner of several martial arts but shootfighting, muay thai are all pretty good arts when you're young ! just try to do a high roundhouse kick when you're 70 ....probably not when on the other hand ninjutsu can be trained whole your life.
and that what makes the difference between "sport" and "martial art" !

      i rest my case lol

akio123, i think it's more a question of mind setting, but to avoid some of the earlier mistakes, ninjas were not assassins , they were people like you and me who could use their surroundings and there body to defend themselves, their country and their loved ones.

but please forget all the movie stuff.

and if you have any more questions , i will be glad to answer them

Yeah, you can pretend to be a real Ninja....

Ninjutsu is about espionage techniques, there were many specialty schools for the ninja but I like shurirkenjutsu myself. You know, throwing things...?

first of all i'm not pretending to be an expert on the subject and i'm definetly not a 'ninja'.

its only that i practice Bujinkan Ninpo Taijutsu for over twelve years now, and wanted to give some info to Akio123, that's all

That's great... So, self proclaimed expert, I never said YOU were pretending to be anything. You made the mistake of grouping me in with "all" the folks that never heard of Budo-taijutsu. I also get a bit angry when people that offer the input use the wrong words (or maybe when they misspell the right words) You see, I don't speak the language myself so I appreciate correct terminology. I would hate to ask a serious question about something and use a word that came from some fictional cartoon...

Your experience speaks for itself Obiwan... san you've got a hell of a lot more to offer on this topic than I. Arigato gozaimasu

Ninjutsu is alive, well and still going strong. I have been in the bujinkan for 14 yrs and I have never seen it stronger. There are a lot of very good people teaching bujinkan( Genbukan & Jinekan as well) here in the U.S.

But with anything take your time and do your reseach and form your OWN opinion. There are still many people that have their biased opinions. The art isn't for everyone, there are some bogus teachers and some closed minded individuals that turn people away , as is the case with other arts. You just have to find the best art for you and go for it.

Untrue. That would be like saying boxing is about the jabbing people, or wrestling being about take downs. This is only one (minor) aspect of it.

As far as my Sambo studies, there's really not much to say. I was in it for about a year, excluding the summer breaks. It was a martial art club affiliated with Millersville University. The club exists to a limited extent (http://muweb.millersville.edu/~recsp...s/MAindex.html) but has declined significantly since I left (my leaving had nothing to do with it going down hill.) As far as being a student, I rose to the level of yeller belt with my <big breath> green stripe. I was only in it long enough to learn some basic throws and take downs, but I have been in the arts long enough to see what they had to offer. I enjoyed the ground work, as I hadn't had much experience with this, but I wasn't really being fed in terms of the hand to hand stuff while standing. There was just too much of a push for the sport side, which isn't what I'm after.

I stopped being a student with Sambo and started my own class, Hoshin Jitsu Ryu. No, I am not Sensei Vasold, whom you see on the page. He was my co-instructor and roomate who continued the instruction, if you could call it that, after I left. The web page needs to be updated, because he ceased teaching about 2 years ago.
