relation between teki's

ok, i've been practicing karate-do shotokan (traditional style) and i wanna know, how teki shodan, nidan and sandan are related

I'm not sure but I think Heain 1 through 5 are required for 1st degree Black belt and Tekki 1 through 3 are also. The rest of the kata are optional. Shotokan has numerous katas beyond heain and tekki. Hope that helps.

For the record my cousin made this thread not me and also what forms of karate do you recommand?
