  • Kenshiro Abbe 50th Tribute

I am pleased to let you all know that the new Kenshiro Abbe Tribute website is live as from today. http://www.KenshiroAbbe.com After the great success of the Kenshiro Abbe Celebrations on May 14th at Crystal Palace 2005, we now intend to continue to pay tribute to this legendary Budo teacher with this new website.

There will be much more information added during the coming weeks. We are looking for more information on Abbe Sensei, old photos, film/video / documents. If you have any material of interest ? please forward to Henry Ellis at BritishAikido@ntlworld.com If we believe that any submitted material is of interest to our visitors we will publish it. In the coming weeks we will be talking to several of Abbe Sensei's old privileged students ( not friends ) with the intention of developing a page of personal tributes and anecdotes to Abbe Sensei. Please visit the site regularly for the latest up-dates.

    Kind Regards

Seems he was also involved in Karate, I found some youtube videos about that, but see nothing mentioned on the site, why is that?
the site seems to be all about Kenshiro Abbe as it bears his name, therefore one would exmect it at least being mentioned.

The above < kyu-shin-do > video has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Kenshiro Abbe or his organisations...Kenshiro Abbe was a 6th dan in Karate, but because of the heavy demands on his time with the British Judo Council with several thousand members, he brought Mutsuki Harada Sensei to the UK in 1963 and he took control of the Karate for Abbe Sensei's organisations. He taught at the Hut Dojo where I was teaching Aikido. I did study with Harada Sensie for some time there.
Harada Sensei could not make the event so his first ever UK assistant Ken Waight came along and did some Bo work. ( The pair in all white ).

The Kenshiro Abbe website is continually being improved and up-dated. I have recently received some treasured items of interest from the daughter of my good friend the late William `Bill` Woods Sensei who was the BJC secretary to Kenshiro Abbe. I will be adding some of these items when time allows.
