  • Ninjitsu VS Aikido

Ok i am looking at a second style to do whiles doing MT and i was thinking in the line of maybe one of Aikido or Ninjitsu.
The reason for this decision is we never had a Aikido or Ninjitsu club in the area but there is a new club that shares same space Aikido and ninjitsu so i am wondering what u guys think which should i attend.

I feel Aikido is a realy good style for standing technigues and ninjitsu for the ground and so on.But i cant do both at the same.

    Thanks for input.

Go with the Aikido. Not that it's necessarily better, but Ninjitsu isn't great for cross-trainers.

I've never heard of Ninjitsu being described as a ground fighting style?? Can you explain what sort of training or techniques they use??

I have practiced a little Ninjutsu, but I don't really remember much, and I have about 1 year of Aikdo, which isn't much to really base an opinion on, but, I would say ninjustu over Aikido, because Ninjutsu just seems like it would be better for self defence. But of course it depends on the person.

Ok i just wanna express my opinion what i know about ninjutsu is zero.
I have seen alot of Aikido in action in the movies and so on but in in real life about twice visited a dojo and watched a lesson.
So i think in the respect of what i have seen Aikido is the one because of the position of fighting.Normal ready stance i recon like most relaxed/soft styles and i would be comfortable with that because of my MT background. So i think i would go and attend some classes of both and see what the difference is.

              Thanks for input guys.

Depends on what you want to learn how to do and who's teaching.

With ninjitsu however, youd probably need to devote far more time to it, and the teacher has to be good, and boxing will stuff the technique up, boxing stance and fighting style is very obselite, but its cool to watch and is a good sport.

Akido is practiced in ninjitsu, but its a bit Steve Seagaley

check it out and see what you like best

id recommend judo or jiu jitsu over ninjitsu and aikido. judo/jiu jitsu would supplement your mt better inmop, and everything ive seen from aikido and ninjitsu resembled crude judo/jiu jitsu. so you may as well just get down to business. aikido isnt really great for crosstraining inmop because you will be expected to learn a lot of traditional stuff and you would need to train in it for quite some time to even be able to use it, let alone blend it with muay thai lol.

I can't decide whether this makes me want to laugh or cry, so I'll compromise and laugh until I cry

Wow, that video is one of the most enlightening I have seen in a long, long time. It answers many questions I have had.

I've always had this image of ninjutsu being some semi-mystical art/discipline known by few and taught by fewer.

But no, I'm wrong. It's just bad ju-jutsu practiced in a field ! And to be become a Master, just add a balaclava.

I'd go with the advice of 3mptin3ss
