"THE" leglock? Which one?
If you apply a lock to ONE leg and you perform the technique from the outside it is quite difficult for the Uke to kick anything with serious force. More likely he will try to sweep, reap or otherwise defeat the submission by escaping.
I am fond of Kani Garami... how can you kick anything with your legs tangled up?

My only criticisim of the leg lock is that depending on the rules if you leave one leg free; you are leaving yourself open to a nasty kick from the free leg. It doesn't matter if you do the lock with lightining speed (may turn into a leg break) be if you are just trying to go for a tap out. Beware, a lighting thrust kick may be waiting for you.
Also, My experience is that some of those judo/JJJ/sambo leg locks require extreme flexibiltiy in your legs.

Secrets of Judo...
Judo has a handfull of leglocks that you might enjoy practicing on your friends.
It is rare to find instruction in these techniques in a typical Judo club.
If you would like to know more about leg dislocations lets get rolling...
If you are familiar with Tate-Shiho-Gatame. (Read MOUNT) do you play TATE-SHIHO-HIZA-HISHIGI ??? (it's a leg lock)
Someone recently asked about a so called "X" gaurd from BJJ. I have said many times that we don't apply a NAME to every single position or TRANSITION in Judo. But I know the ANTI STOMPING defense this "Gaurd" position is for. Seperate, isolate, destroy...(submit)
How far can you press a position before it becomes a sweep?
Lets talk about something interesting for a change? Or ARGUE? Bring it!
