I think it's safe to say you could take this stuff straight to your BJJ academy and "test" it on your fellow students but sadly the MMA/BJJ folks shy away from the "Japanese Arts" board. Too bad. I keep hoping to start a thread that will just shoot to 300 posts in a week but that's a pipe dream.

I think if the same techniques were presented up there it would get more attention?

    Lets find out, shall we?

Shoulder locks are illegal in Judo and BJJ players will think the shoulder lock(s) is (are) an elbow lock. Any bets?

Who is REALLY paying attention? (I wonder) LOL

Join me on the MMA board?

You know, I find lots more MMA guys these days respect Judo a lot more than they did just 5 years ago - and definitely more than they did 10 years ago.

    That's my experience..

I used to hear "yeah, but their throws don't work" and now I hear "Some of that stuff they do is really wicked if you can learn to do it from over/underhooks."

I've always liked Judo. I consider it one of the most complete arts out there - and they ALWAYS practiced alive.

The IJF rules prohibit this form of hishigi used as a submission and most BJJ tournaments won't permit it in the lower ranks. For GOOD reason!

In judo such compression movements are considered 'hishigi', (hiji hishigi).

There is much debate about the legality of this hold and it is most often used to set up the straight arm lock.

sorry i dont know the japanese name. comes in a few variations. simplest way is to use it is on a guy who is defending an armbar.

this way here, super easy, crushes their bicep muscle and can break the arm.......one of those moves were the damage is done before you realize it....
