Broken elbow. It is not my intnetion to offend you with this so please do not take it as such. But you're lying to us all. I have a shodan in Isshinryu and what thaibri explained is spot on to what I have seen and experienced from some of the top karate schools. BJJ and MT all the way.
Broken elbow, your stpuidity is astounding, please do not address me in the future.

LOL Wow a Shodan! I'm impressed, but not as impressed as you are. I stand by what I said and please note that I agreed with TB.
"Seen those too TB, crappy training methods. But that's not all of karate." No offense Kevin but I'll stick with my experience over yours.

The only things I know about issin ryu is from the local school. I think it is still running, but one of their instructors got busted for dealing drugs.

They had a boxing ring in the school and were known for going out and getting drunk and picking fights.

Other than that don't know too much about it. But from what i saw it was similar to MMA but with a little bit more of a structured system and a few of the karate problems.

The whole distance at which you spar is too far away to have relevance to a real fight. When a real streetfighter gets up close and personal everything youve learned flies out of the window.
You would not see this in traditional Isshinryu.
You don't train in brutal strikes and low kicks. Only the gentlemanly punches and kicks above the waist.
Again, you know not what you talk about.
In Isshinryu there are no high kicks, all are low and with purpose.

Well, that sucks for anyone who was there to actually learn. You have scum in all places.

I have applied my training in situations I didn't want to be in, and thank God that I had it. Though is it the end all MA, no. But it can be effective and very usefull in today's society.

Read the whole thread, dick head.

You have a shodan in Isshinryu and you agree with what ThaiBri says??? Maybe, you know not what you speak of. Atleast he said that he has no 1st hand knowledge on the style, that I can respect. He is making an opinion and stating his limitation on the subject. You say you have vast knowledge yet seem to have little understanding of what it is.

Kicks like cross stomp kick, knee smash and 45 degree snap side kick are the core of the system and all are targeted below the solar plexus of the opponent. It does have the other more standard kicks but so far all the techniques I've learned use the basic 9.
