    An "extreme" newbie. By Dellian - Thu, 14 Dec 2006 14:03:17 GMT

    =========

    Hello one and all, I found this site and have to say I am impressed.
    I have some questions regarding Ninjutsu.
    This art has been a dream of mine for so long and I have just realised that the average person can begin to learn it.

    I am quite naturally thin, skinny and light how will this affect me? (very little muscles) :uhyeah:

    Do the average dojo's (is it called a dojo for ninjutsu?) help train your mind as well as your body?

    This may sound ignorant but how long until one will be able to train under weapons? Bokkens...

    Any advice for the newbie before beginning with this art?

    How much has learning Ninjutsu changed you?

    Also does it matter how it is written? Ninjutsu, Ninjitsu?

    Ok this is all I have.
    Thank you all so much in advance.

    Yes, there is both mental and physical training in Ninjutsu, although the mind becomes aware of certain things through physical training. We learn to clear the mind, and not dwell on any given technique.

    Yes, it is called a dojo in Ninjutsu as well.

    Weapons are just an extension of the body, and can be trained with at any point in time. The thing about Ninjutsu is that all of the movement excercizes control, and almost all of the unarmed techniques can be performed (although slightly changed) with weapons.

    My advice to a beginner is to remember it takes time, don't be overwhelmed, and that you should never dwell on anything, especially strength.

    To correctly write it, we would have to use Kanji characters, but Ninjutsu emphasizes the proper pronounciation of the word. It doesn't really matter, in my opinion, but you'll likely get criticized if you spell it Ninjitsu.
