It may be semantics, but Bruce never certified anyone specifically 'to teach'. He gave a few peopele certificates from the "Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute", "Bruce Lee's Tao of Chinese Gung Fu", and "Jeet Kune Do" - but none that say anything about teaching.

Apparently, verbal permission was given to a few to teach small groups in a non-commercial setting. I am interested in who this "only person Bruce Lee officially certified to teach JKD" is...

I attended a martial arts camp recently that Denise Geroux taught at. Her bio under the class description listing stated that she's an apprentice instructor under Dan Inosanto.

          Interesting topic no doubt.

I personally am very intrigued and fascinated when I train with Bruce Lee's original students. They can relate and recall things that Bruce Lee taught them personally.

But, lineage does not a Master make. Because you trained with Bruce does not mean you got it. Function and Reality reign supreme.

After training with 11 of Bruce Lee's original students and feeling the energy and doing the drills as taught to them by Bruce Lee is indeed an incredible thing if you truly have an interest in Bruce Lee and his art and wisdom.

You can actually get/feel fellowship of comman energy when you train with these people for any length of time. I can still feel the power, spring load, energy, stickiness, slipperiness that I felt when I trained with these men even though it has been many years since I've worked with some of them.

And when they show you and make you feel the way Bruce Lee did certain drills, it is something special.

But again, Bottom line is "Does it Work?" Especially against a Non Compliant Opponent.

In My opinion, Bruce Lee knew a little something about that.

I am a student /Instructer of JKD I love th idea and principles behind it I would be considered to be a 4th generation student although I have trained a little bit with a 2nd generation instructer just so you guys know if you curious. It used to matter to me about what generation my instructers were and about bruces students and techniques I will admit i was a little obbsessed but now I i have relized I just care about what i want to be and that generation or not does not matter so much just what works for me and what i like and feel comfortable with and i think thats an underlining meaning of bruces ideas. He is not a god but he is truely an inovator and practicle person. Its great now cause i dont limit myself to who I can learn from or work with because of there generation, age or even art they take.
