Theories are JKDs answer to kata and forms.

There shouldn't be any theories in JKD. Use your stuff full contact and see what works.

Learning to communicate what works for you full contact is a very important and useful tool for understanding combat.
Understanding theories of combat has helped me avoid violent confontations. Here are some examples of theories that I have seen many fighters use and have used myself fullcontact:
A southpaw boxer steps to the outside of his opponents lead leg, making his opponent's rear hand (cross) less of a threat.
WingChun theory says that you should always aim to control centerline. Once you learn to control centerline you will see results in your full contact fighting.

When you are not seeing what works full contact you can explore your martial arts in other ways. People that I know that only do full contact sparring as their training tend to be sloppy fighters. Fighters who train in the physical as well as the mental are more equiped to adapt to any situation.

Better a sloppy fighter who wins then a refined fighter who loses.

Nothing wrong with theories same as nothing wrong with kata. Focusing too much on theory, or kata, is where the trouble comes in. Ryu is right.
