I live in Rutland, MA near Worcester. I am 43 years old and started taking just JKD about a year and a half ago from Will Smith who is out of Springfield/Holyoke. I also attended a Larry Hartsell (Bruce Lee student) JKD/Grappling seminar down in Waterbury, CT back in August. I'm not too proud to say that, I came home in a lot of pain that weekend.
Due to an elbow injury (not related to the seminar) I haven't taken a lesson since September. It's very difficult to find anyone trained in JKD without traveling at least an hour or two away so I never took lessons on a regular basis just as time allowed- sometimes twice a month but I would do a 2-3 hour private lesson each time. I recently ordered several JKD video sets and plan to start using them to ease back into it. That's about it.
All you need is love........and a sharp blade.....a hardwood flat stick......Oh, oh, oh and a Paraordinance lda 14.45 loaded with 230 grain hydra shocks, ranger SXT's or golden sabres
I got away from teaching JKDC a few years ago. Of course, that doesn't mean I don't pull things out occasionally. Anyway, I think Ron K. would be your best source for people in the area (if you haven't checked with him already). I just moved back here last year so I'm not up on the local JKD crowd.
Kinda out in the sticks. What happened to Worcester, btw? Last time I was there it looked like one of those post-apocalyptic films (outside the quaint downtown area of course)

I have been down to Ron K's in Waterbury. That's where I took the Larry Hartsell weekend seminar. The problem for me is the distance and I'm also not sure I want to focus as much on grappling as they do. The guy I know in Springfield seems to focus more on straight JKD as Bruce taught it.

That is the town motto. They could drop an atomic bomb on Worcester and I don't think it would look much different. It is one of the ugliest cities I've ever seen! Rutland is just 20 minutes away and is a small town with somewhere around a dozen working farms. I had a hard time finding anyone around here who even knew what JKD was. I grew up in NJ and one of my best friends was a boxer and JKD fanatic from when we were kids. I wish I took advantage of learning from him then but I really had no interest. He would fight ten guys at once without thinking about it and not want anyone to step in and help. Of course most fights never got that far becuase once they knew what he was about they changed their minds. He was a cruiser weight fighter about 170 lb.s but he moved like a butterfly and could kill someone with one punch. That's why I decided to try JKD.
