  • JKD vs. Jun Fan

Coming from classical Wing Chun, my take on the BL arts is this:
Jun Fan is modified Wing Chun. Bruce always stuck with Wing Chun principles
and concepts, even if he abandoned the triangle footwork and many of the CWC techniques.
Jeet Kune do, on the other hand, is simply the concept of interception. It exists at the higher levels of many arts, but Lee made it his core concept and derived methods to train for it. Interception can be done with a jab, a sidekick, a Thai push kick, a wizzer, multiple str8blasts, a groin kick, a throw, a trip, etc. i think BL's message was: become sooooo good that you can intercpet anyone w/o wasting time on defense or passivity at all.

bruce lee once told guro dan inosanto that when he fought with someone, it was like they were moving in slow motion. So naturally it was easier for him to "intercept" the attack. Alot of us Jun Fan/Jkd guys nowadays are having a hard time understanding that intercepting can't just be a concept within jkd. To intercept, you have to get out there and become faster. training with weights, polymetrics, and the like all help. And you can't put jun fan vs jkd. one is an actual style, the other isn't
