Lol, First off Bruce Lee might of been fast but that does'nt make him tough.... Sparring and fighting are two different worlds. Understand that..

As far I know, Bruce Lee was to big of a puss to actually fight in a MMA competition.... ALL HE DID WAS MOVIES PEOPLE!!!!! He was'nt a fighter.. And belive me there was about a million other martial artist just as good as bruce was... He just happend to be the first one to make it big in the movies.. Bottom line..

You're out of your freaking mind if you think the good but "above average" Chuck "Iceman" Liddell is better than the "GREAT" Bruce Lee. Either you're a Biggot or a Great White Hope Wannabee. Bruce was lightining fast, Chuck is Strong but slow. No comparison

              Ok. Can't argue with that.

MMA is a recent invention in the US (early 1990's). There were pankration matches happening in Japan (kickboxing + submission wrestling - televized in early to mid 80's) and lots of individual style vs. style matches in Brazil (since 1920's) but unknown to the rest of the world.

Bruce Lee passed away in the early 1970's, so there was no way he could've competed in MMA....unless, someone invents a time travelling machine...

He probably wasn't the best fighter in the world, but his speed, power, cat-like reflexes and short-temper would probably make him pretty good...

Tom Yum, I agree with you half way.. Bruce lee probably was a pretty tough guy, I'm more than sure he could hold his own in a street fight.. But for some people to say could beat some of the top fighters of today I think is a little silly .... Maybe if he was still alive today and in fighting shape *cough timemachine cough* he might be able to hold his own against these guys... Cause bruce was open to alot of fighting styles..

Hardball, first all Chuck liddel is by no means just "above avarage fighter" he's one of the best fighters in the USA... And as of right now the UFC champion...... Bruce was probably a pretty tough but by no means on liddels level..... Sure in his movies bruce looks unbeatable, he can take out 50 people at one time, and destroy an entire room... But that's the movies. Not real life........ Get it strait... And speed means nothing if you don't have any power with it... Bruce Lee wieghed 120 pounds, you know how easly he'd bruise if liddel hit him just one time....

Ugghh, can't believe I got sucked into one of these Bruce Lee vs. Anyone type threads , but I agree with you. Bruce would not be able to handle a modern day, top-ranked heavyweight MMA champ.

Liddell is going to lose again very soon. Liddell may start making movies soon. Liddell is slow, very very slow. His current reign as champion is due to superior skills and superior technique. He is by no means a superstar or great. He is just an above average fighter who is going to lose very very soon. Look at his kicks, they are slow as can be. His strength is in his punches and his grappling skills.

You knew when you started this thread; Liddell vs. Bruce Lee that you were opening Pandoras Box. No way, no freaking way is Liddell as good as Bruce Lee. Time will tell when the MMA world cracks the code to Liddells' success just like they cracked the code to Brazillian Jujitsu. Then Liddell will be regarded for who he truly is, an above average fighter at best. You'll see, just like Iron Mike Tyson, somebodys gonna knock Iceman off of his throne.

Saying Bruce could take Liddel is just a fantasy. And he's not slow at all. And he's WAYY ABOVE AVERAGE. Bruce looked so quick cause he was kicking air. Lidell could look pretty quick that way too. If Bruce got in the ring against an opponent whos hitting back, all of a sudden Bruce woulndn't have been all that quick. No doubt Bruce would have been a top fighter in his weight class.... POSSIBLY even holding a championship for some time. But Liddel??? I mean ...... are you on crack???

All the threads on here are out of hand with the B. Lee versus yada yada. The entire concept of MMA comes from him. People often forget that in the 60’s Karate was the only mainstream taught martial art. Kung Fu was only taught to Chinese, Kali/Escrima/Arnis amongst Filipinos, etc. It was Bruce who sought out these other arts Muy Thai, BJJ, Boxing, etc. and incorporated it with his Wing Chun background. Bruce was solely training to improve himself as a effective street fighter. It wasn’t until later on that Bruce met Guru Dan and came up with JKD. Now to sit here and compare modern sport fighters (Lidell, etc is pointless. Bruce was not a combat sport fighter and trained strictly for street fighting. Eye jabs, grown kicks etc. You ask me, how would Bruce do again Lidell or whomever, on the street? Well I don’t know, a quick eye jab is definitely a fight ender. But nonetheless, we really should stop making these silly comparisons. It’s impossible to compare eras in almost any sport. Was Jordan better than Jerry West? Was Joe Montana better than Unitas. We can go on forever. Some body mentioned we should talk about actual JKD topics (PIA, ABC, SDA, Hammer principle, trapping etc.) and I totally agree! Just my 2cents

Assuming that through some stanized witch-craft we could bring back Bruce Lee, he would hand Chuck's ass to him on a silver platter. Bruce Lee is probably one of the best fighters ever. The man beat the hell out of armed guys with empty hands. Liddel doesnt stand a chance.

The difference between Chuck and Bruce is that Chuck fights for a living, bruce didn't... Like I said I'm sure Bruce was pretty tough guy but I think almost anyone in the UFC would beat him....... Not to mention Bruce wieghed only about 120 pounds, which that alone would make very, very tough just for him to even last a couple of minutes with Chuck...
