  • Bruce Lee vs. Hulk Hogan?

Let's talk about real (!) stuff now!

  • #2
Okay how about we talk about keyboard monkeys with little brains and too much times on their hands. Just because this is a jkd forum doesn't mean it has to be littered with 'Bruce Lee vs. your momma' threads. Talk about footwork, drills, PIA, direct attack, etc.

I know your retort - "This is just for fun" well it's pretty lame and really old, hopefully my response can be the end all and be all on this thread and it can die the quick, horrible death it deserves.

Hulk Hogan is much much too slow for the great Bruce Lee. Bruce would take out his eyes with Bil Jee amongst other options.

                  *sigh* you arrogant clod
To me, jkd is nothing but a waste of time.. As for I know it's never even been proven to be ring worthy.. I say this because I've never seen a jkd master go into the UFC or Pride/FC and kick some ass.. All they do is talk about how tough they are...

There's been a few JKD guys who have fought in UFC with some level of success. On top of that, I'm sure lots of JKD guys enter the amateur circuits of MMA.

As a matter of fact, there are JKD guys on this forum who are training and fighting for professional bouts....

                    Not really.

They talk about alot of concepts applied to combat, then do free sparring with these concepts in a spontaneous setting.

What you won't find in JKD are guys throwing one huge hay maker and over extending the punch for more than 2 seconds so that their partner can throw a beautiful swan beak fist to the armpit nerve ending, followed by a spinning back knife hand strike to the ribs....

I'm no JKD guy, but they focus on functionality from whichever art they can study. I'd rather study JKD (with influences from any art, even wingchun) than at a school where they teach you technique after fancy technique with no free sparring, spontaneity and functional conditioning.

                    JKD is solid.

                      Ufc 5

Todd Medina (JKD) taps out Larry Cureton (Pro-heavyweight kickboxer).

                      Medina advances to semi-finals.

Medina (JKD) looses to Dave Benatau (wrestling) by ref stoppage due to punching.

Medina put up a better fight and lasted longer than the wing chun fighter (UFC 13, maybe?) who got taken down with ease and sub'd in 30 seconds.

True, I'll give you that.. But I'd have to disagree if you said that Medina went into the UFC without knowing atleast a little bit of bjj.. Like you said hey won by tapping the guy out. Which that alone tells me the guy had some skill on the ground. Otherwise he probably would of lost really quick.....

                          Hey stupid,
JKD is about integration of techniques from multiple martial arts including grappling. BL did that long ago. So you'll find JKD practitioners try to be well versed in components of the most effective styles, use what works best for them and are constantly sparring and learning. Essentially the philosophy of mma fighters is a jkd philosophy. You see something new work (Couture and the clinch) and you start incorporating it into your own personal workouts. Why the hell are the ignorant and ill informed the first to speak?

Well, since you asked.... As Plato observed: "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something."

What the hells stuck up your ass,
What you just said only proved my point even more you idiot.. That grappling is almost a must have for any kind of martial art.... GeneLebell was one of bruce lee's training partners while bruce was still alive, and he said that "bruce loved grappling he ate it up"... And even bruce said the that "all the good stuff was hidding from the view of the camera"....
