I have to say that after getting my tapes and watching them through, Guro Dan has amazed me yet again... These tapes not only give a lot of great material, but Guro Dan also makes some strong statements regarding the JKD controversy that surrounds us in the JKD community.... It is about time....!!!
I have no axe to grind, I would like to train with a lot of the nucleus as well as others, but Guro Dan has been quiet for so long, it is nice to see him speak out.... The fact that he has kept quiet for so long, only legitimizes him further... His ability and unassuming manner at least in my eyes shows me that he is right.. I like that he doesn't try to degrade the others in order to elevate himself, his personality and skill level have served him well in carrying the flame of Jun Fan and JKD..
As for my background, I train in Pittsburgh, PA with Don Garon at Pennsylvania Karate Academy, Guro Dan comes in twice a year for seminars... I have also trained over the years in both traditional and eclectic martial arts, such as Nejad Martial Arts, Shotokan, Isshin-Ryu, etc...
My current training at the Academy, includes Okinawan Kenpo, Jun Fan, Muay Thai, Kali/Eskrima, Shooto, CSW (Erik Paulson), and Silat
