I've said this before, but I'll say it again.

In a private, small group discussion conversation with Guro Inosanto, with no audience and no agenda, he stated that to this day Bruce Lee remains the most phenomenal talent he has ever seen. Think, about the list of people that includes over the last 40 years, and draw your own conclusions.

I agree that the discussion becomes tiresome, but that shouldn't detract from the man's ability.

BLs understanding of the Human body still amazes me,the fact that not only could he do what he did but he knew how he did what he did and how to train it,remember his library of books? the guy studied and trained in equal parts,always looking to cut down the movements he did(not just technique cut down)make the move more motor efficient, more streamlined ,more deceptive,more explosive take off, less telegraphic etc.

One reputed training method of his that i have never heard of any one else doing(not to say no one does of course) is where he taped(cassete tape) a aeroplane taking of and another tape of a tap dripping,he would play both tapes at once until he could pick out the dripping tap over the plane taking off,its that and a host of other methods that make me think he was what those who saw him and are still here to testify say he was.

The fact he didnt take part in competitive fights much(if at all) doesnt mean much,i know people in gyms(and pubs!) who dont compete who have the potential to be better than those who do compete but the dont have the desire to win trophys or fight for a living.

Im probably biased when it comes to BL as it was his movies that got me of a slippy road and into training hard,so for me its all good.

I'm sure when Bruce Lee was a boy and Yip Man was his teacher, then there was no comparison in their levels. However when Bruce Lee was in his prime as an athlete at 25 or 30, and Yip Man was older in a system that doesn't progress, there would have been no contest.

I'm not too concerned with what he said, more the reality that if Bruce Lee could toy with and dominate a thirty something Dan Inosanto, then I'm pretty sure he would have done OK against an old man who fights tri-limbed telegraph poles.

Besides the respect he had for Yip Man,He also respected and admired Wong Sheung Leung(who help train bruce after he couldnt train in the main class with Yip Man-after others in class found out about German lineage) and William Cheung.

As others have pointed out,would this question discussion still take place if he was still alive.Even considering the physical specimen he was,at 68(again ,if he was alive) he couldnt be compared to what he was at 32.

But there's that guy called Randy who still makes others shake there heads at how he still does it.

My teacher (CCMA) was/is better than Lee. I am a big mark for BL, but the fact is that there are 1000s out there better than he. NO offense. Lee started the industry as it is today, and his ideas are good. He is just not the best!
