  • Would Bruce still be on the cutting edge

Was wondering to myself would Bruce still be on the cutting edge of Martial Arts if he were still alive today, after all when he first introduced us to what is more commonly called M.M.A, today it was not well received however today over forty years later nearly every school in the world is combining its arts in one way or another to keep up with what has become the current trend in the industry. What are your thoughts?

Considering he was born in Nov. 1940 I would hope by 2008 he would be comfortably retired...

He would be a little old man by now... Had he not died so long ago.

Let the cult icon rest in peace already...

I think he was so into his training that he would still be pretty much fit and an excellent fighter.
and since he would've done it for almost his whole life with much detication, and effort wich almost came into the area where you could call it obsession, I doubt he would've quited before he died.

That said, I still agree with the above poster.

It is not about what Bruce would be right now, but about what you can do with his teachings and mindset(wich is shown in "The Tao of Jeet Kune Do.") to better yourself.

Martial Arts was a big part of who he was

If Bruce were alive today I dont think retirement is something he would ever consider as martial Arts was a big part of who he was I have seen many masters in there seventies and eighties and even though some of the physical attributes they had when they were younger may not be quite as sharp their there minds are as sharp if not sharper than when they were in there younger years. take Guro Dan Inosanto, GrandTuhon leo Gaje for instance the term little old man does not even come close to applying to them.

I have to concur I think Bruce would still to this day have been far ahead of the game. It would have been an honor to have been able to exp what the man had to say on his views on M.A. today an MMA.

If it's small enough to bring with you and not visible on metal detectors maybe ^^

                  and legitimate by law ofcourse.
Now if one brings an gun to any decend club(where I guess most fights start over here) or anything they will be intercepted before they even entered...
By either the metal detectors or simple the size of it all.

Nobody can answer that now, but my guess is for MMA the same as he looked at sport karate/boxing/kickboxing.

Heh I'm not really an JKD dude, But what can one know more than the movie about his life and his book/video's of himself?

There are so much of fake rumours and fake story's(like everyone claims to have been thaught by him to get more customers to their dojo's while they've never even seen him in real) It's hard to know what's truth and what's not.
