    Bum Rush and Tank Abbot

One guy, I don't know who he was but he looked like he'd originally come from classical Japanese or Korean kick-punch style, actually got Tank Abbot while bum rushing. The guy simply ran backwards and punched the same time. Stopped him twice and knocke him down the third time.

The technique against a bum rush is not that difficult - it is simply stoppunching, or sidestepping or pivoting out and attacking from the side. The key question is if you can do it fast enough and in the right timing. If you can you'll probably get him, if not he'll definitely get you. Simple as that.

If what you do ist too complicated it will probably be too slow or off timing, and you'll lose.

      Hi,
I welcome people rushing me in the chair because I grab whatever closest and continue his motion up and over and cover with a choke whether I'm still in the chair or have followed him to the ground on the opposite side of chair or angle into around him again using own momentum.
      Take Care,
      Doug

I have seen double leg takedowns as a counter for the "rush." they do the takedown and pivot sideways. However the safe thing to do is probably to back up to standing position if you choose to take him down. Sak did it do Renzo. Or even a fireman's carry. Strikes dont seem to be a high percentage move because quite often when performing a strike, your feet are in a position where your balance is more compromised.

Lots of good ideas guys. Most of what people have come up with is what do do pre-bum rush. Which is fine if you can time it right and cut him off before it happens. I'm wondering what happens once you are hit at least once and have your weight back on your heels and the guy is blasting away at you. The only thing that I know that has any degree of success in that situation is to cover up and move into him and hopefully get too close to him for his blows to be effective. Clinch if possible, regroup and develop a strategy from there

You could use a Thai clinch, knee him twice and swing him around to off-balance him. Maybe give him a swift savate kick to the sternum while he's still recovering. Works for me!
