JKD is supposed to be a mixture of different martial (or something like that) what is it a mixture of.

I was thinking of doing muay thai as well as junfan jkd to increase power and get more training because at the moment i can only mainly practice technique. Will muay thai just confuse me is it a good idea. I would also like to go into competion cause there r none for jkd near me or is there any at all? Im a novice. How much of muay thai is in jkd, would kickboxing be better?

How affective is wushu or vale tudo in a brawl?

    cheers

The JKD concepts I trained in, incorporated some of the knees, elbows, and kicks from Muay Thai. If you want to compete, I'd definately take Muay Thai. JKD is more street oriented, where as alot of Muay Thai places will focus on competition fighting and the ins and outs of that.

JKD is comprised of many philosophies and strategies. Boxing, Wing Chun, Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Kali are a few arts JKD utilizes. There are roughly 26 martial arts or so that have been known to contribute to JKD. However this changes when the student achieves higher understanding of martial arts. The student may train in anything he wishes in order to find his 'truth' in the martial arts. Keep in mind that the martial arts that contribute to JKD have a common thread of which they mainly are effiecient and functional for combative purposes, not showmanship.

vale tudo is not a style, it's a type of competition. wushu isn't very combat oriented anymore.
