  • Training with Paul Vunak

I have trained with many types of martial arts instructors and Paul Vunak is out of this world. He has such an intellectual understanding of Jkd and martial arts in general. I have recently been promoted to Phase One instructor under Paul. I recommend spending the money and time with Paul. You won't be dissappointed. Many people claim to be some badass streetfighter of Nhb fighter. But Paul is down to earth and understands the process in which one must go thought to become good.

    Forever a student,
    Mike Vaughn

    Hi Mike,
Congrats on the certification. I'm also a student of Voo and PFS, and had a Phase 1 back in 98 (been involved with JKD since about 1993). I'll be testing for Full Instructorship in the next couple months.
Good luck to you and keep up the training!

      Awesome Ryu,

Good to hear from someone in the PFS family. I hope all goes well in recent months and you get your full instructorship. It sure is exciting training with him.

      Good Luck,

      Mike Vaughn

Can you tell us more about his method of training?

I'd heard he had stripped JKD down to the best bits, leavig trapping behind to an extent. Is this right?

Great post on PFS. Yes, please list some details!

BTW- It's funny that you have to strip down the system that strips down the traditional martial arts....

I see what you mean, but it isn't exactly true.

OK, JKD seems to strip down a martial art to its' essentials. But then it does the same to another, and adds the two together. Then it does it to anojther, and then another etc.

And then adds all the "essentials" together, creating a syllabus bigger than any one of them. Or am I wrong?

            No. I am never wrong.
