I personally have no interest in whether you train in JKD or not. But looking at what you have said, you have already follwed some of the concepts for JKD whether you know it or not. One good thing about training with JKD guys is that you can start to merge all your knowldge together while you train. You can glove up and bang with people to find out what works for you, in other words you can start shave stuff off your game that isnt helping you become better person. Sometimes when we train, it isnt about adding techniques but rather taking htings away.
I have a friend who got a private with Megaton Diaz ( a jiu jitsu guy) a couple of years ago, and asked him if he could learn some more submissions from the guard. Meg told him in a thick brazillian accent "bro, you know to many techinques...its time to take some away." he then proceeded to beat his ass all over the mat.
The moral of the story is that sometimes you need bang a bit in an open enviornment to be able to work certain attributes like timing, speed, etc that technique itself can only get to a certain level.
It's easier said then done, but if your dedicated in becoming a better fighter you seriously should consider mixing it up a bit. You will notice that the arts that are successful when tested are usually the one that are actively competing, whether it be thai boxing, boxing, brazillian jiu jitsu, kali etc. Anyways , it aint easy, but anything that is worth doing isnt.

The good thing about JKD is that is not just about punching and kicking. It developes the mind and spirit as well.

lol how is that different then any other physical activity that had punching and kicking in history, even sports like football build mind and spirit. Hell shoveling the snow can build mind and spirit!

its all how you look at it.
