Why all this discussion about Vu on Burton's forum. Do you notice the lack of any comments by Burt on this matter?! Maybe the Jeet Kune Do forum would be a better place for this type of thing.

Domstarr, I know that you and I have verbally duked it out in the past but man that just sucks. Paul is very talented at what he does, too bad he's not tough enough to make himself a stand up guy. Since he gave you the certificate are you now teaching JKD?

I think if someone has a bad experience regarding a seminar, or private lessons, it should definitely be made known. Why let members of the community suffer. I'm not saying you should take everyone's words for granted, but if a majority has similar opinions, then part of it must be true.
I've read a lot about Vu and I've heard good and bad things. Mostly, it's that he's all about money... Well, I suppose if people keep paying him so much.

Vunak is a decent martial artist. Inosanto is a great man. The fact of the matter is when I asked Mr. Inosanto about Vunak he virtually had no comment. That speaks volumes. I've met Paul and he seemed nice enough but I have heard a lot of wacky stories about him from his students. He is not honorable.

I had this goal of training with Vu someday, maybe doing his special weekend package.
I'm a man without alot of cash
This would involve taking maybe 2 days off from work, 2 grand for the training, flight cost from Massachusttes, hotel & food.
After reading these posts, I wanna thanks you all for saving me about 5 grand.

I have a copy of one of Vunak's weekend training sessions. He allowed them to tape it and then I was given a copy. One of my former students had moved away and decided to take the quick and easy approach by spending a weekend with Vunak. In my opinion, he was basically robbed. This student came to visit with me afterwards and he was neither knowledgable or skilled. Yet, he was a "certified" JKD instructor. 6 month students of mine easily schooled him. However, as much information as there is available on what a scam this is, people still want to do it. So, they deserve to have their money taken.
The ONLY reason anyone would do this is to take a quick and easy approach to getting "certified". What a joke.
Stay away from this and train with someone credible.

That's the sad thing, Vunak is credible and does have something to offer. I don't agree with his RAT approach but I don't think it's without merit and would be fine for many people. Also there are many excellent martial artists who are horrible businessmen, say erroneous things, do it for the bucks or promote people who have no right being promoted. Hopefully he'll turn it around.Stay away from this and train with someone credible.
