  • Brandon Lee

What do all you JKD guys think about Brandon Lee. I havent seen him mentioned once so it cant be much.

Obviously he wasnt as skillful as daddy but he was still a good martial artist I reckon. I've only seen one of his films (Dragon, BL Story) and he looked pretty good in it.

I dont know much abput him though. Was he trained by Bruce, did he train JKD ??

my understanding tells me that inosanto trained him later in his life, although brandon has said in interviews that his dad trained him as soon as he could walk. according to inosanto, he studied everything and got certified in his father's arts.

He was a nice guy. He said that when he was a little kid his dad brought over Kareem Abdul Jabar. Brandon thought he was a giant and got scared and cried. He was really happy when he passed his test under Ajarn Chai. He really liked Muay Thai and looked up to Ajarn Chai. He had also studied a bunch of the Chinese arts and spent time at the old Marina Del Rey school. He wasn't one of the senior guys, and that suited him just fine. He just wanted to be one of the guys, not to be thought of as a movie star or to have to live up to his dad's mantle all the time.

Your right mate, I just looked at the video case and it is Jason Lee. My mate lent me the film and said Brandon Lee was in it

And Jason isn't even a martial artist. He is (was) a gymnast.

At the time of the making of the movie Jerry Poteet trained Jason for 3 months. But Jason has remained Jerrys student ever since. If I remember right he's listed at Jerrys site as an instructor now.

The action movie that Brandon made was "Rapid Fire." Not bad considering he pretty much had to go out and "pursue" the art.

Jason was so physically able I'm not surprised that he quickly got to instructor level. He was in pretty amazing shape, too. As far as muscle definition goes he was easily as good, if not far better, than Bruce Lee himself.

Jason Scott Lee... Puahahaha... No way he's comparable to Bruce Lee in any way, shape or form. Jason's kicks sucked and he's got no speed—not to mention the guy can't act.

In regards to the original thread: An article and interview with Brandon Lee revealed that he basically destroyed an armed assailant in his home. That sums up how tough the guy was.

He said "as far as muscle definition goes..." not Jeet Kune Do technique.
