  • I've got $70.00

and I'm newly beginning to traiin in JKD. As a beginner having read NO books yet, what would be the best JKD books I could spend this money on? I'm not interested in videos, just in books in particular. Thanks for any help!

Your better off spending more on an instructor.

Theres an updated series of Bruces notes and published by John Little. Try Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com or a similar place.

I've got a better idea! Take your $70 and join a BJJ club for a month or two... then when you join JKD, act like you know nothing, then tap out our first sparring partner....

              Now, that would be fun.

And what makes you think that a 2 months of BJJ will make you "good enough" to tap a JKD fighter that most likely has been exposed to BJJ in the first place?

if you really wanted to learn JKD ...get an instructor that has a decent lineage (i know i know lineage smineage ).... followed by a good program (you better like what they do as far as training method goes), decent rate and schedule plan. after that if you got money left over get some equipment then your book

You REALLY need to specify what type of "JKD" club you are talking about. Otherwise, you'll have the poor lad taking some really, really bad advice.

Well, it only costs like 20 bucks, but I recommend the Tao of JKD. It is the the classic JKD book, but it is definitely worth picking up. Lots of good insight, and as a beginner, it will help alot with basic knowledge of JKD.
