  • Need Help with kick

I've been training in taekwondo for 3 years and I'm having a little trouble doing a 360 degree spin heel kick. I find it very difficult to do this kick because I have to do it without a running start. I've been trying to perfect this kick for the past year and I'm still having problems with it. Can anyone out there help me out?

    Yes.

    1. Get quarter.
    2. Insert into machine.
    3. Push the joystick UP & RIGHT while tapping the kick button.

That should work. That allways works.

No offense, but that is one of the main reasons i Left tkd and ended up getting my Black Belt in jujitsu. I only made it to 9th kyu in tkd.

Here are the basic steps we break it down to where I train - (assume left leg forward, right leg kicking):
          1. Twist your torso clockwise as you bend to look at your right foot (bend at the waist)
          2. As you twist, lift up onto the ball of your left foot and lift your right leg behind your left - the closer to your left leg the faster the kick
          3. Continue to turn your head (and torso) to try and follow your right foot, staying bent over until your foot has hit the target
          4. As your foot hits the target (or passes where the target would be) stand upright - your right leg should come all the way back to the starting position

Try working these one step at a time - ie practise No.1 by itself a few times, then add No. 2, repeat several times and so on. Make sure it is your torso twisting that is driving the kick.

          Hope this helps

          Martin

            My SPIN on things!

            Sir,

Practice the spin...practice the spin...practice the spin...Then when you feel comfortable preforming the spin, practice the kick!

Now, as opposed to Majic, I see the kick happening a little differently!

-Left leg forward, Left leg kicking...

            1. Begin by rotating the right leg to the front while pivoting on the left foot

            2. Press the left foot into the ground propelling yourself upwards while begining the counter clockwise rotation.

            3. As soon as both legs are off the ground begin chambereing the kick

            4. When you can see the target over your shoulder...extend the kicking leg into the final position...BANG!

If this is of no assistance please post what problems you are having and the methods you are currently using!

            TAEKWON!
