  • Hope I made the right decision...

Well hi all, its me again and this time I was faced with a decision, first off ill have my martial arts experiance, which is close to nothing, 3 weeks Bunjinkan and 2 lessons of Muay Thai (Would you believe the gym closed down lessons as i started?) So ive been doing WTF Tae Kwon Doe, there wasnt much I had to chose from, i mainly wanted a striking MA otherwise i would of gone judo, don't get me wrong judo is great but I prefer too strike and only grapple when i have to.

I realize WTF does no grappling but lets just say I didn't have much to chose from... well actually I only had this or judo to chose from haha .... so anyway I decided to hang in there for WTF just for some fitness until we move in 3 years to Melbourne then i can do what I really wanted to do all along... which is Jui Jitsu.

PS: The dojo im at does no contact sparring for 20 minutes every lesson twice a week and the damn blue belts are no better then the white :P

So, why did you get out of Bujinkan?

Theres a few reasons why I quit, the main one is the instructor was kind of arrogant (that how you spell?) and dised all other styles saying bujinkan was superior and that just annoyed me, 2nd reason was there was no sparring what so ever, he said if you can do something against a pad theres no reason why you cant on a person (and we do slow moves on eachother to use a block) and finally the lessons were very pricely, $25 dollars for one hour

Well if you are in a TKD dojang that the purple belts are not any better than the white, then you will have a problem. Sounds like the typical McDojang that ppl rave about. If you are stuck there for lack of other places to train, I would suggest asking your instructors for more indepth teaching. Also, if your instructors are not good themselves, you would be better leaving and finding books or DVD instructions until you move. Wasting time and money in any MA is something you want to stay away from. Point out your concerns to your instructors, with respect, and see what they or he says.

Ooh, my bad didnt relise it was purple , I might of exaggerated a tiny tiny bit but lets put it this way... only doing TKD for like 2 weeks with our "so called sparring" they block slow as heck and when they attack I can see that there going to do a side kick, front or whatever and block it... But i noticed alot of them have no balance! Anyway ill try talking to my instructor and telling him that im worried about wasting my money on this dojang. I might go for a walk around the street since I heard from a friend of mine he did judo, ill ring him soon and ask if that place is still open.
          Thx for ur advice TKDTyger
