Okay let me get really specific here:
- There are currently 2 very big TKD schools in the area. I trained both the owners of the schools up to their 2nd degrees. I never got past my 1st degree, I'm still a 1st degree BB. Because I choose to, that and it's like $200 to get my 2nd degree. Yeah, no thanks. I don't need validation from a golden stripe on my belt. I'll get it in time. I've been training for 7 years and fast approaching my 8th year in TKD. I SHOULD be approaching my 3rd degree. It takes 4 years to get your BB (minimum), and then 1-2 for 2nd and another 1-2 for your third.
-I'm not trying to get into arguments. Not at all. I was just poking fun at this kid. I don't think 8 years is a short time to develop some philosophies. I haven't really had contact with many masters, and I"m sure none of the philosophies are of my own. Such as toning down the flashy kicks and using them when necessary. I teach jumping kicks a lot, but I teach when to use them and when not to. I teach the effectiveness of leg kicks and blocking in conjuction with TKD style kicks.
- All the training methods that I have "developed" are from trial and error on my part, a few of them I got from my dad. I used them to train many of my students who have gone and got some nifty national titles in olympic sparring. It worked for them. Not something I'm into, but hey I don't think little 10-11 year olds are into NHB MMA stuff.
- A lot of the stuff I use to teach I "devloped" during my time taking Honors Anatomy in school. I just kind of used some A + B = C thinking.
Look, I'm not trying to be an ass. I'm the nicest person you'll ever meet. I'm just overly zealous about some subjects. I act like a domineering jackass all the time, it's just a front for my effeminate and ultra-super caring nature for everyone. Even people I hate. Don't take anything I say personally. This is the only way I can balance out my psyche.
