  • Looking for instructor

I am looking for TKD instructor who may already be living in the Florida Keys or is looking to move here. The school which my children attend now will be closing around Jan or Feb 2007 and after long consideration my husband and I have decided to open a school to allow all the children to continue with their studies in TKD. This is a small community and this is the only TKD school here. The instructor after many years has decided it is time for his new adventures in life and we wish him well but my 2 boys have been in TKD for 2 and 3 years and go 4 days a week after school and love it. I know many of the children will be sad to see the school go so I want to keep it going but obviously with a new name and under new ownership. I have many grand plans for the future school and hope to find an interested instructor.

I would appreciate any guidance from any and all of you regarding this matter. Any direction would be helpful as I truly have no idea where to begin to find someone. Everything else is done, I just need a caring and knowledgable instrutor who loves children and of course adults too

Please feel free to email me direct at ruthgrace@bellsouth.net or respond here on the thread.

    Many thanks in advance!

Your best bet is to go throught the organisation your current trainer is associated with. Maybe they know of an individual interested in the job.

Other than that, there are so many organisations around and each with a different emphasis on TKD or program to accredit teachers.

I do belong to the ITA (www.itaonline.com), rather mild mannered, but with strickt regulations on who can teach...The organisation is based in Pensacola...and there are several schools in the state (www.itatiger.com) they may have a young instructor wanting to go out on his/her own...

I wish you good luck with your search!

        You are welcome!

I remember we had the same blight once, not in TKD though, a bunch of kids looking for an instructor. We where lucky to find someone willing to travel an hour and a half one way to teach us a couple of hours and then track back at 10PM...

I hope your search will be succesfull!

          that's nice

Unfortunately I'll need someone who will be living here, as classes are 4 days a week. I will keep up a vigilant search!

Yes, our situation was different. Good luck!

(how long is the drive from the Keys to the mainland, just out of curiosity)

                location

It's Key Largo and the drive from the mainland depending on where someone lives is anywhere from 35 minutes plus. Say if someone lived in Homestead or Florida City it would take them about 35 minutes but if they lived further north it would take them about an hour. Many people commute from there to here so it's not unlikely to have someone that lives there.

As for the type of TDK I'm not honestly sure how to answer that. I believe the affiliation is with the World TKD Federation. I know he has changed affiliations once or twice due to his personal morals. I do not think there is any strong connection and hasn't been for some time. In the 3 and 2 yrs my sons have been doing this there have never been any competitions to attend for the school. That's not been a really big deal for me although it would be nice at least once , but for some parents they would like to see their kids at least try once and see what it's like to compete.

                  Well no luck so far

Hello. Happy Friday to all. So far I still have had no luck finding anyone or any information. I have checked out ITA and have requested some info and hope to get a response soon.

I was asked what kind of TKD was being taught. It is Kukiwon....oops on the spelling. Sorry! And I believe the affiliation is WTF. Anyway, I hope to resolve this sooner then later.

                  Have a super weekend.
