Well, if atacking people with highly telegraphed moves and then freezing becomes common, I know where to go for self defence classes.

you must be pretty narrow minded to not see the practicality in a lot of those techniques, most of them are done in parts to show variations and possibilities of takedowns, for example when he wrapped the single leg and moved into the double leg.

That's exactly the same as one finish sometimes used in wrestling also.

I did see the practicality in some of the takedowns. Though I did not see them used in a practical way.

The greatest enemy to realistic training is compliancy. However, since we cannot beat each other to death in training, there has always got to be some.

But any training where the "attacker" merely throws one highly telegraphed punch, and then stands still, is detrimental to the training of realistic stuff.

              True.

This is a demonstration video for teaching fundamental techniques, so the defender is static. I'm sure they have a defense-takedown video as well.

Can you imagine a boxing instruction video where the instructor teaches how to throw a jab at his assistant and the assistant slips inside and lands a smashing overhand right...lol.

              Not good for teaching.

Thanks, Boar. What was your opinion of the knife video?

I saw part of a knife form being practiced. Can't think of a better way to build fluidity with the knife.

The ridiculous claims and speeded up footage makes that the best laugh I have had all week!

He looked like the knife was added to his skill instead of it being part of his skill... I have been on the wrong end of some very nasty HWD instructors in class...it sucked to be on the receiving end of what they could do...it rarely if ever seemed possible for anyone else though. HWD was a HUGE part of several specific special forces training facilities H2H programs in the late 60's and early 70's and the men running those classes were a NIGHTMARE...but I think it was the men, not the systems as none of the students ever got close to what the teachers were and the programs were dropped after the instructors deaths.

I thought you might enjoy that, Joo Bang Lee and his brother were sort of uh controversial...Even they couldn't explain some of their students capabilities...What did you think of Joo Bang Lee's top student?
