Anything else I can help you with? Perhaps your anger problem?

I still am unable to "decipher" your writings. That last sentence, as well as the your last post, did not make any sense.

I would suggest Dr. Suess. From there you can move on to Goosebumps followed by Harry Potter. By then you should be able to create complete sentences all by yourself.

            MJ,
Tell us how you know Bruce was unable to measure up. If you were there, shed some truth to it. By "there", do you mean you fought him, trained with him, or seen him in real combat? Instead of cussing out your adversary, back it up with some real info. Most of the people here on this forum don't care about how much you can talk, but whether or not you back it up.

Sorry HuSanYan, I don't mean to sit and bicker, but sometimes I just can help myself.

CLF, you should change your name to Choy Li Fut Rox.

Choy Li Fut Rocks is so 80's.
Choy Li Fut Rox is atleast 90's.

Seriously now, tell us more about CLF. Nobody else practices that style here. Do tell.

I trained with Jimmy H. Woo in El Monte in the original school in the 70's on ward and he was very innovating with the use of Kung Fu San Soo and this style incorporate everything.

Jimmy knew Bruce as far back to when he was a boy and knew he was full of shit then.

Jimmy did a yearly demo downtown china town and Bruce never did any demonstrations at the time.

I saw Jimmy get in his face when he would show up about never joining in to see what he really knew.
Jimmy took it as an insult after many years of practice and study to see Bruce get lucky un called for notoriety.

So when new people on this form show up with there copy of
"Enter the Dip-Shit" the juices get flowing to an old hashed subject of what if shit.
Later on I added BJJ because of the need of ground fighting understanding.

I noted that San Soo had arm locks that took ground fighters by surprise in being slightly different to there mind sent of BJJ.

But alas as we continue the evolution, the arts began to blend into a new hybrid of sorts.
Although I believe in pure signaler arts first for years before attempting to blend because understanding of basic moves needs time to perfect.

I can respect that statement. If you would have made a point like this before, a lot of bickering could have been avoided. Now, I can understand where you gather your opinion's from, and that's respectable. As long as you are willing to make valid points, without ignorant statements, I would honestly like to hear everything you would share.

                        Bruce Lee

I want to know more about Maui's thoughts on Bruce Lee. Why? I'm curious about what he has to say about this. Bruce Lee obviously had some talent in MA, and also put a lot into his book, that still sells today. So if he was such a fake, tell us why. Lots of martial artists in those days trained with him, Chuck Norris to name one of them. You said Norris was fake too, and yeah I'd love to see him without the rug too, but he won some major events in the old days. How is he fake?

Originally, I showed up at this forum by accident and ended up in a thread where people were always comparing Style v Style so I came up with the name "ChoyLiFutRocks" as a pun. I had no intentions of sticking around. I have thought about changing my name, but what's the point?

As far as CLF is concerned, I find it to be a very cool style of Kung Fu. It covers all four ranges of fighting (long, medium, short, close), and is very successful. The only problem is like many other CMA's the grappling is limited. I believe there is more grappling involved than a normal striking art, but it is still limited. It is also taught to our higher ranking students, which I feel is a mistake. We like elbows and knees at my school, I like that

It has been described as an unpredictable style. We have many linear kicks and strikes, but there are a great number of circular powerful movements. We understand that circular is slower and we train with that in mind. I personally believe unpredictability is just as important as speed, so I like that fact that we have punches and kicks coming from all directions.

CLF is a combination of the best Norther and Southern styles, it was developed in 1836 [so it's pretty new for a CMA]. Here is some history: http://www.plumblossom.net/ChoyLiFut/history.htm and here is some more info: http://www.white-dragon.com/CLF_Kung_fu.asp MORE CLF INFO: http://www.choyleefut.us/ChoyLeeFutKungFu.html
I don't ever try to claim it's superiority over any other style, I practice it because I like it. I wouldn't tell someone training for MMA just to take CLF, but I do strongly believe that it is an effective form of self defense.

We do have TMA lag, where they like to condition their new people until yellow belt before they can spar, but we do have sparring. It is full contact--point sparring is DISCOURAGED because it will not help in a self defense situation, with the downfall that new people can't take head shots.

Read the history, look stuff up about it, come to your own conclusions on how you feel about it. I'm not here to promote CLF, but rather to take in what others have to offer as far as info. and self defense techniques.

Of course CLF was developed by using other, less effective, chise martial arts, but so was Muay Thai. I can back that up if anyone is interested. Here is a link that will explain. The whole site is awesome for martial science, I'd recommend anyone to look at it.:

It is a Kung Fu website, but the guy praises MT like there is no other MA, lol.

Here is a good article for you MT fans: http://crane.50megs.com/index6q.htm

Now that I know where Maui got his info, I'm not blaming it on him. I've heard lots of people under Woo say that they think Lee is a flop. It could be anything from jealousy to jealousy, but people are inclined to believe their teachers every word.

Lee got his acting career going by word of mouth of his talent, if Woo was equaly or more talented, there is a good chance --given they were living in similar locations-- that he too would have had a shot at that fame.

                            Maui, feel free to rebute.

                              MJ,
Now we know from your reply, that you have truth behind your previous statement. I've read Lee's books, and am impressed by his comments on the martial aspect of fighting. As for me personally, whether he was the real deal or not, he left a lasting impression on the mma community and on the media. As for the present day, fighters have evolved into what I think Lee had expressed through his teachings and what he intended for the jkd art form to become. If he was around today, I think maybe he would not be as prominent a fighter, but would still be respected for his contributions, just as Royce and others who really brought the mma scene to the public eye. The only thing that I somewhat disagreed with Lee about, was his opinions on Muay Thai. I'm a true Thai fan when it comes to striking, but I'm biased because the Thai style and grappling fit my needs. To each his own, I guess. I can knock a boxer out with elbows and knees just as easy as he can knock me out with a punch. (found that out by fighting a boxer friend of mine, whom I kayo'd with knees and elbows, and he returned to drop me with a left hook to the jaw-sucked.)

Does anyone remember the old WCW days with the NWO? One time Jean Cluad Van Damme was in the audience and so was Chuck Norris! The nWo was going to do a beat down on some wrestler but Chuck and Jean jumped out of the audience and protected the guy and they had cool fighting stance! The NWO ran away in fear and then it went to comercial! The anouncers were going crazy! IT WAS AWSOME! WOOOO!! I wish they got ot fight though...

I think what we need to discuss is not martial arts who became actors, but actors who are doing martial arts. Lucy Lui is not hot she has a weird eye and looks anorexic. She only studied Filipino arts for Eks vs Sever and then she liked it and so she kept it up. Also Kill Nill she had to learn some arts as well. We shoudl dicuss wether the new charlies angels and all the people who fight in kill bill can actually fight. Or the matrix people. I would like to a a no holds barred MMA match with everyone of them round robin style!!
