I would say my opinion is slated by Woo's need to partly protect his business and reputation.
I could tell when Jimmy was talking about technique or his irritation of Bruce.
I do believe in how he felt about what kicks to be flash and easier to get trapped with and the new popularity of Nunchucks
He was proficient in weapons and hated nunchucks and said there where only good for beating rice after Bruce used them to the silverscreen.
San Soo was sound in hand use and kicks that where more of the straight fount kick type, no more then rib height or swipes and hooks and rear donkey kicks from the floor.
Hitting mayoralty hard against soft, soft against hard.
Jimmy talk of Bruce like a Veteran Union man talking shit about scabs.
Because of his understanding I think Jimmy felt it unfair of how Bruce move up at an opportune time.
Woo's top instructors did do some appearances and advisers to the series "kung Fu".
Jimmy was strict in breaking tradition of a slower learning curve to "lets get to work" and keep it down to a salute and fight.
Because of the need to keep San Soo complete and effective San Soo only saw its use on the street where it truly worked.
Jimmy was in only a hand few of competitions and people learned he was to unsafe to compete even if he was to loose because of his strong view the San Soo not being what it is if it was limited by safety first rules.
I've sat with Jimmy looking at some of Bruce technique on film and this is where Bruce I'm sure thought he was doing his best in his performance for each film but this is where I loose respect for Lee.
I do believe many of the elder of the past just hated Bruce for having such a powerful tool to share the MA and his poor attitude of needing complete control and demand for respect.
Jimmy died in 1991 and there are a handful of studio's left but I left med 80's looking for more understanding to leverage and ground fighting that San Soo lack for me.
I found out real fast that BJJ drools when you cross step or drop a knee to the floor to perform a BJJ move.
Not till BJJ did I learn control of my emotions in a fight and now panic less in a clinch.
Being older now I've become meaner and dirtier in a street fight if it happens because my gas tanks not as big and I have to get it over quicker against a younger fighter and this is of course no guarantee.
