  • BJJ CV training

    Hi all,

What is the CV training in your average BJJ lesson?

Is the CV similar to the sort of stuff found in Judo?

    Cheers
    Chris

There's not alot of CV training in our classes specifically, mainly conditioning for just bodywide fitness. CV training would mean you'd have to be doing some sort of continuous movement for 30-40 minutes minimum... that's better done on a treadmill or sidewalk somewhere.

BJJ is a sprint sport. If you want to be effective physically, it'd be better to do sprint training or HIIT training. Not just sprint running either, but whole body stuff like jump rope intervals and cross trainer machines.

                ..

if you hold your breath and spank the monkey for 2-3 minutes at a time, you get all sorts of stamina... however I don't know how that helps with bjj

We did kickboxing rounds, bjj rounds, and working the bags. 2 5minute rounds for kickboxing, and 2 5-10 minute rounds for bjj. Other than that if you wanted more, you did it on your own time.
