I would have to skeptical of anyone claiming to teach JJJ. If there are any real styles of JJJ still around then I doubt they were worth mentioning when most of the large schools rolled their techniques into the Kodokan. If they do not claim to be such and such a ryu and simply use the jiu jitsu name then they may actually be worth visiting, but you'd have to see for yourself. I personally would start out with Judo as it's usually much cheaper and will give you an introduction to basic techniques of BJJ. If you end up liking the groundwork more than the stand-up then go for the BJJ. If you like pretending to be a badass and learning lots of crap made up by some yahoo who read an Ashida Kim book then go with a "traditional" JJ school.
