Why do certain races dominate specific sports

I would agree with Big Bird that a lot of the minorities make it big because they have no alternative. I'm no Tyson expert (help me out Big Bird) but from what I know he started out as a street punk. Now how is a street punk going to be successful in life? Will his parents send him to law school? NOT! But he CAN go to a boxing gym. I think for a lot of people boxing (athletics) is a way to a new life.

As for the runners, the best runners are from Kenya and they run well because they don't have modern conveniences like cars and stuff in Kenya.

And white people dominate winter sports like hockey and skiing because black people are smart enough to stay out of the freakin' cold. Their unheated ghetto houses are cold enough already.

IMO in different sports backed by coutries depend on their background and what they are more exposed to. IE: in NZ our main sports are Rugby (Union & Legue), Cricket, Netball. This is probably due to the British background of the people here. Autralia is Rugby (Union & Legue), Cricket, Netball & Aussie Rules (taken from rugby). SImilar background.

Hey guys,

This was in no way meant to be a troll. I was just extending my thoughts on an article I read from Scientific American which brought up these questions.

They claimed it had to do with environment conditions, good genes , fast twitch- slow twitch muscles, how certain races seem to inherite qualities that fit perfect with their sport functions, etc., etc. They really didn't come to a final theory though, thats where you gentlemen come in......

As to the issue of certain races being better than others at certain sports:

Culture partly, and body-type to a lesser degree.

Remember when Jimmy the Greek (I'm talking to old-timers now), was fired for saying blacks were better athletes because of superior breeding during slavery? I hate to be politically-incorrect, but does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Most of the GREAT athletes I think of, like Michael Jordan, do LOOK like they were genetically-engineered. Did selective breeding play a role?

No, it's a cultural thing with Jews. Their culture values education, hard-work, etc. more than most. Nothing to do with their genetics...except that smart breeds smart, usually.

An Eskimo kid raised by Jews would probably do well in education and business if he had half-way decent intellectual potential.

My father was born in India, and I got a very similar upbringing: Work Hard, Study Hard, Push Yourself, Don't Party (too much). These lessons need to be learned early, and some cultures do a better job than others of instilling them, Jewish culture included.

i think that the same could be said for asian culture aswell. their families would moslt ywant their kids studying rather than sports, thats why they excell in science and math.. not because of genetics, but because their fmaily values academics a lot..

One or two of those breeding farms still stand just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. I don't know the exact location, but a guy I used to speak with frequently told me about them. He was HEAVY into Black History. Didn't Hitler get a bad reputation for attempting something similar? Hmmmm? This guy also told me that you can tell "about" which part of Africa blacks are from (heritage) by their features. Of course, with tribal separation, I can understand that. Native American's were/are the same way.

Racial differences catering to certain sport activities is NOT unlilkely at all. I don't see how that can be denied. Sure, a little heart and dedication goes a long way, but I think you will see definite differences if you teach and train each race equally (no possibilty of doing this, but...) - these differences will become obvious. Not collectively, mind you, but individually. I mean, for strength, you'd have to power lift. For running, the dash and distance events. Boxing wouldn't show much. Too many outside factors involved that can't possibly isolate any differences. You need something that isolates skeletal & physical traits. Of course, we could simply look at known biological (genetic) differences and make assumptions, but where's the fun in that?! LOL! Actually, I believe it to be more detailed than general racial differences based on the Mother Nature factor. I think we would discover more specific regional differences (tribal?) within races than as a whole race. Sure, it's neat to know the specifics of each race, but I think it's more interesting the deeper we look.

In closing, there ARE indeed racial differences. Bottom line, Mother Nature has a way of making her inhabitants adapt to their environment or weed them out. There are several known differences that can be found in most medical books. Just a quick glance at racial specific diseases and you get a big clue - LOL! I can think of one pressure point on the arm that black people do not have, but every other race does. Why is that? Blacks tolerate and see clearer in bright light. Why is that? There are much more, but I believe it to all boil down to environment, but I'm at a true loss of explaining the absence of that pressure point. A clue? Benefit or hindurance? What about a child with one black parent? Still hold true? How do racial mixes strengthen or weaken these distinguishing characteristics?

Side note: Jimmy "The Greek" was wrongfully dismissed IMHO.

Last side note: What ever became of those he, Hitler, did breed? We never hear about that and I'm curious as to what was accomplished. Selective breeding, genetic engineering, or whatever else...where and should a line be drawn?

Ronin, most asian americans are either immigrants or first generation. Those standards slip a little with each generation as you will see. What about Jewish culture teaches a good work ethic? What do you mean "Jewish culture"? Many of these families don't even practice religion, yet they seem to have these determined characteristics.
