My post was not directed at you, rather everyone who started bashing after you posted. It may look like mcdojo material, but it isnt. Why isnt it? Because it is a "program" to help you learn martial arts faster. He offers no belts, and the reason he got a black belt so fast, in MY mind, is becaus #1 he is already accomplished in various grappling arts, and BJJ was easy for him to master. #2 money, Money to spend on training, going to brazil, and meeting people. He already has a high profile in judo, crossing over to BJJ only promotes his teachers and the gracies. #3 friends in high places.
If you want to buy his system, go for it. If you think it will help you learn faster, just remember some people learn faster than others regardless of what videos you own.
Like I said, I don't plan on buying his products or the video. But I did recieve his news letter for a while, and it had some good points in it. I stopped getting them because I quit reading them, lost interest.

i subscribed to the newsletter like 2 months ago mabye more not sure and i will inform you guys what its about
its about mental side of your training and what you have to do mentally to beable to get a black belt. like mcjohnson said. you people need to be a little more open minded and a little less flaming.
Ok I bashed this guy but I got the first "lesson" a while ago and started reading it. I no longer do BJJ but there were some things that I could identify with. Here's a few questions presented in the lesson.
Have you ever had to grapple someone that made you feel
like you have claustrophobia?
Have you ever come to class and saw that one person
that you did not want to roll with? (He never missed a class)
Have you ever been grappling and as you started to get tired you
thought about quitting or maybe you even quit. I could ask
thousands of these questions and if you answered no to them all.
You are either the phenom of your school or your lying to yourself
Lithen bitch, don't you come in here flailing your long blonde hair around and wagging your little manicured fingers at me girlfriend!
Oh no you dint!!!!
I KNOW you dint thay that I was a flamer. If I've ever seen a case of the kettle calling the pot queer.....I'm so mad at you I could scratch your eyes out and ruin your makeup!!!!
mjohnson is correct, Lloyd is very respected in the grappling circle so i doubt he would ruin his reputation with a bullshit blueprint.
oh and the guy i was talking about, Mike Fowler, one of his top students recently defeated Ralek Gracie(son of Rorion) in the purple belt division after only 2 1/2 yrs of training. lets not all get excited and think we can achieve that too, but it is something to think about.
Hello. My name is James Valentine. I train at Lloyd's, with Mike Fowler. I do pretty well on the competition circuit--you can poke around to verify if you choose.
The grappling blueprint is not about mail order belts. It's about:
1. Showing you that becoming the best you can be is not happenstance. It's a decision you make.
2. Showing you how to focus your mental and physical training efforts to achieve that decision.
Like all things worth doing, it takes effort and time. How much time it takes is inversely proportional to the effort...
About Lloyd--he only had 1 year of wrestling experience before he started BJJ, he did get his black belt in 3.5 years and he received his black belts in Sombo and Judo AFTER he began BJJ. While he is a gifted athlete, that's about 10% of the equation. Lloyd's work ethic is unreal.
About me--I had 4 years of wrestling experience. I experienced moderate success, commensurate with the amount of effort I put in. I was 0-10 in college as a result and quit after my first year. Lloyd has changed my mental mindset and with it, my level of focus, drive and determination. I feel that I still have a ways to go yet, but this is undeniably the hardest part of my experiences with him. I didn't start listening to him about HOW to train until about a year and a half ago and since then, I've been doing quite a bit better.
About Mike. Mike also had 4 years of wrestling experience and came to us full time in Maryland as a fairly new blue. I was a fairly new purple. However, Mike listened to Lloyd from day one and I am now learning more from Mike about how to be a champion than he ever learned from me. I am both humbled and significantly in his debt--and he doesn't even realize it I think.
Lloyd has a saying--"Begin with the end in mind." To me, this translates to "A vision without action is just a dream."
Perhaps the phrases are trite--but I think their triteness is only true if you don't believe them and put them to use.
As far as a black belt being earned over time...a black belt is earned over time PUT IN on the mat... not time showing up. How much time you put in is entirely dependant on how much you choose to make of the time you have. I've watched Lloyd train, and participated in it... he put in his time and is teaching others how to do the same.
That's that. Make of it what you will. He made me better and thus a believer in his system - but only because I made a concious decision to actually use the methods he advocates.
