But that kind of cliche is pure B*S*, like you r going to see robbery in every corner, or childkillers or so. Its a ten million people city, and the city is not at war at all. Its some kind of mystification of a real problem. It´s a beautiful and poor city, and it´s easy to say bad things. I guess, despite it all, it´s not much more violent or cruel than any other big city in the world, like Paris or New York, where some neighborhoods are barely visited by police.
There was about 8 street kids found murdered in a shack.
Investigations found they were rounded up and killed by the police who were tired of dealing with them.May not be on the front page in Rio,but it made it on international television. The kids smoke cocaine Paste that is still full of acetone and chemicals because it hasnt been processed down to powder yet (it's cheap).9 and 10 year olds who have brain damage from smoking paste and inhaling paint. We arent talking about a handful of kids....it's thousands. They have no way of surviving exept to steal and dig around in the garbage dumps.Closer to home......it is that way in parts of Mexico too.
Entire familys live at the dumps and spend their day picking through garbage.
When we see homeless people in America....they are doing great by the standards of other places in the world.
