he did write the script, he wrote everything in the movie newho ya he's right, don't look at the finger that points. look at what the finger is pointing
he was talking about a fetish he had and when put into context he would continue about all the incredible things his wife could do with 3 chihuahuas, 4 empty milk jugs, a cashmere sweater, a water heater, 2 pairs of chopsticks, carrot juice and an old phonograph. yeah shes a freak and a half.
What does he mean by that quote???... Anyone???...
I took it to mean that one should'nt concentrate on the tool (arms an legs) that he uses to defeat his opponent. He should have a sense of self and situation that is a result of constant training of his pysical and mental facualtys. The finger that points to the moon is you, your mind and body set on a task. If to mutch focus is wasted on a battle plan or the aches/fear of getting hit, you could miss out on many opportunitys to end the conflict that would have been apperent if you had of been in a relaxed state of mind and body. This state of being would have given you access to relaxed reflex movements as well as a clear mind to focus on dominating and eliminating the threat at hand. In other words; being calm will let you use the moves you've trained. You might also miss the main point, the big picture, the problem, the fight and your possible demise, if you think to mutch. Anyways if you could somhow contact someone who knew him I'm sure they would tell you what he meant. He was a philisophy major. Alot of his friends probably got all sorts of insite into his thoughts. If you like that quote just read some books on zen and chinese martial philosophy. You will proabably find shat loads of 'em.

You got all that from a one line quote?
I wonder what you think people mean when they say HELLO.
I did'nt see the movie he said that in. I read it in the zen section of the Tao of Jeet Kune Do. Zen has a tendancy to imply many things a just a few words. I think thats what makes it zen actually.
