BACK IN ACTION IN NY WITH "NEW YORK SHOWDOWN 6"
Well, the day finally happened. USKBA ACTION SPORTS Sanctioned events back in New York with USKBA ACTION SPORTS Promoters Steve Ventura and David Ross (NYKK Gym). Their amateur San Da smoker, "NEW YORK SHOWDOWN 6" was held in their gym on Saturday, January 24, 2004. It went off without a hitch. Great fights and no injuries, thanks in part to superb referee Donnie Carolei (USKBA Lead Referee). As we were told by the New York State Athletic Commission, after the event their inspector came up to us and introduced himself. We handed all the previously agreed on paperwork to the inspector and we all left feeling that this was a major step in bringing our action sports back to New York. USKBA ACTION SPORTS Promoters Steve Ventura and David Ross (NYKK Gym) have already set their schedule of events for 2004.
Approximately two hours before the 7:00 pm start time, the last ticket was sold. People had to be turned away at the door. Next time, heed the warnings of 'Limited Amount of Tickets" and "Purchase Tickets in Advance". In attendance were USKBA Champions Billy Maysonet, Marvin Perry and Yousef Tzaghizadeh andUSKBA Director of Muay Thai Vladimir Borodin.
