  • Jean-Jacques Machado

    Hey guys,

I posted a thread about Baxter "The One-Armed Bandit" Humby (a kickboxing champion with a partially missing right arm) on the Thai Boxing forum. Upon looking on the Net for info on him, I happened upon some info on Jean Jacques Machado. I did not know that he has part of his left hand missing. It is visible in many pics but I have only seen one article mention it. Does anyone know any more details about this? How did this affect his groundfighting game/ training? Any links to pages with the info would be welcomed. If you read my Humby thread then you'll know why I'm so interested. Thanks in advance!

You are correct, he is missing most of his hand, and to this day, he has never been tapped out. He is unbelievable! I am a big fan of him. I wish I lived in LA to take the Machado classes at I.A.M.A.

      Jimi,

I think a Machado school will be opening up in Salt Lake City soon. It will be run by Ica Medina but I'm sure the Machado bros will give seminars. As for me, I still haven't found any detailed info on Jean-Jacques yet.

Check out the Abu Dhabi website. There should be some info on him in there for sure. I think he is undefeated in that tournament.

He actually just released a new book with Kid Peligro and he mentions it briefly there. He said that the fingers on that hand just simply never formed. He also said that once No-Gi submission wrestling like ADCC came into favor he was actualy well suited for it since he was not able to use a lot of the techniques that required you to hold the Gi.

Thanks. I'll have to check that book out.
