Next time you get attacked by a bjj guy in a suit of armour and a dagger after you've fallen off of your horse and your lance is broken, let me know how your muay thai skills carry you through.
In seriousness, Masala, if you were attacked by someone with a knife or maybe holding a gun at close range and you were forced to fight, wouldn't you try to grab the weapon and weapon arm to grapple it away and grapple to protect yourself from your opponent's free hand, rather than hit the guy? If you hit the guy, you're stabbed or shot right away. Bjj/wrestling/judo is the only way to go here.
The whole reason the samurai studied jiu-jitsu originally was in case they ended up on the battlefield without a weapon, so they would have some chance of grappling an opponent's weapon away and hopefully throw the opponent to the ground.
